Changing behavior isn’t always easy—sometimes, people simply lack the knowledge and skills to make positive choices. That’s why we are committed to continuous awareness and prevention programs in the communities we serve.
Through open days, training sessions, support groups, and community dialogues, we create opportunities for learning and discussion on critical topics such as Gender-Based Violence, Substance Abuse, Child Protection, Effective Parenting, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Teenage Pregnancies, and other chronic illnesses.
Our goal is to equip individuals with the information and skills they need to make informed, healthier decisions. Change is a journey, and when people truly understand why positive behavior matters and how it benefits them, they are far more likely to embrace it. We are dedicated to guiding this transformation—one conversation, one lesson, and one empowered individual at a time.
At the heart of our community development efforts is NorSA’s Early Intervention Program, a beacon of hope for high-risk and vulnerable families. This flagship initiative provides consistent, targeted support to foster growth, development, and empowerment, ensuring that children and their families receive the care they need to thrive.
A Community-Based Approach to Care
We train and equip dedicated Community-Based Care Workers, each assigned to specific families to provide ongoing assistance. Through a structured and compassionate approach, we offer:
Our mission is clear: to keep children out of the statutory system and create pathways for them to reach their full potential—regardless of their circumstances. By providing holistic support, we help children dream bigger, grow stronger, and develop into emotionally intelligent young adults ready to shape their own futures.
NorSA operates two Early Childhood Development (ECD) facilities and four After School Care Programmes, providing vulnerable children with the support they need to thrive.
Our two registered ECD facilities & programmes, fosters growth in:
🔹 Cognitive Development – Enhancing language, literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills.
🔹 Social & Emotional Development – Teaching emotional regulation, empathy, and relationship-building.
🔹 Physical Development – Encouraging active play to develop motor skills and coordination.
🔹 Nutritional Health – Providing daily nutritious meals to support healthy growth.
🔹 School Readiness – Preparing children for academic success and lifelong learning.
The Impact – Quality early education helps children achieve higher education, avoid behavioral issues, and break the cycle of poverty.
Our After School Care Centres offer:
🔹 Academic Support – Homework assistance, access to learning resources, and mentorship.
🔹 Recreational Activities – Arts, music, sports, and creative outlets.
🔹 Social & Emotional Development – Life skills training, friendships, and counseling for trauma support.
By providing a safe, nurturing environment, we help children stay on a positive path, equipping them with character, resilience, and a future filled with opportunity.
Hunger remains one of the greatest challenges faced by our beneficiaries, with food being a fundamental necessity that many lack daily. At NorSA, we believe that hope for a better future begins with a full stomach. Without proper nutrition, it is difficult for individuals to focus on growth, education, or empowerment.
Through our food security programmes, we provide nutritious meals to those in need—serving children in our Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, After School Care, Early Intervention Programme, as well as members of the broader community. For many, the meals they receive through this programme are their only source of nourishment for the day.
By meeting this basic need, we not only combat hunger but also restore dignity, strength, and the belief that a brighter future is possible.
NorSA, registered and accredited with the Department of Social Development, facilitates adoption services and operates a Temporary Safe Care Programme for babies in need of care and protection. Many of these infants are eligible for adoption, but by law, they must first be placed in Temporary Safe Care while their adoptability is assessed.
We screen, train, and monitor families willing to serve as temporary safe care parents, ensuring that each baby receives the love, care, and stimulation they need in their crucial early days. This secure environment helps babies bond, develop attachments, and reach key milestones, laying a strong foundation for their future.
NorSA’s Social Workers play a key role in supporting both birth parents and prospective adoptive families. Our services include:
🔹 Counseling for birth parents considering adoption, helping them make informed decisions
🔹 Legal support for the adoption process, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Act
🔹 Screening and assessment of prospective adoptive parents, including foster care and family adoptions
Adoption is a deeply emotional journey, and NorSA ensures that every step is handled with professionalism, care, and integrity, always prioritizing the best interests of the child. Our goal is to provide every child with a loving, permanent home and a brighter future.
NorSA, registered and accredited with the Department of Social Development, facilitates a Cluster Foster Care Scheme under the Children’s Act, providing a stable, loving home for vulnerable children.
We own four foster homes in Wellington township, each accommodating six children under the care of dedicated foster parents who serve as their primary caregivers. Our goal is to create a family environment where children feel safe, valued, and supported, with all their physical and emotional needs met.
Children are placed in these homes through Court Orders, often due to traumatic circumstances preventing them from staying with their biological families. To support them, NorSA’s Social Worker and Social
Auxiliary Worker provide:
🔹 Training and guidance for foster parents
🔹 Counseling and emotional support for children
🔹 Educational assistance and school support services
At NorSA, we invest in every child’s future, helping them heal, regain hope, and dream again. Our mission is to empower them to overcome their past and build a brighter future.
